About this event
This weekend will be low key and high fun for the wine aficionados, grape neophytes, and especially Maserati lovers! Club member Ken KIassen has invited us all to the Western Slope and we have a great set of events planned.
Our host hotel for the weekend will be the Tru by Hilton right in historic downtown Grand Junction. It's walking distance to coffee shops, tasting rooms, restaurants, and shopping, and we've secured a club special rate for the weekend at $239 per night all in! You must make your reservations through this link to take advantage of this deal.
Our plan for now looks like the following:
Friday morning at 10:00 we meet at the Woolly Mammoth lot near I-70 and US8. After a brief driver's meeting, we will depart at 10:30 and make our way to Grand Junction, with a lunch stop in Vail or Avon perhaps. Upon arrival, we'll have the afternoon to check in, get acquainted with the town and relax. We can have a casual dinner at Taco Party or the food truck outside nearby Ramblebine brewery, or walk to one of the fine restaurants on Main Street.
Breakfast on your own. We'll start the drive at Kokopelli Farms (off exit 45) at 9:30. We'll grab some peaches for the day's drive, then head up the Grand Mesa. Lunch at 11:30 at Mesa Lake Lodge, then drive to Ken's friend Craig's garage/car collection in Cedaredge around 1:00. From there, we will have a tasting and tour at Colterris Winery starting at 3:00, with perhaps a second brief tour/ tasting at 4:30 (TBD). Saturday night we have dinner planned at Caroline's at the Wine Valley Inn at 6:30.
Sunday morning at 10:00, we gather at Ken's house right at the base of Colorado National Monument and tour this majestic road. The views are amazing and the road's in great shape! "The Monument" drops us in Fruita where we will find a local place for lunch. We continue to another of Ken's friend’s reconstruction of an old filling station and diner, and view his car collection. We continue to the Two Rivers Chateau/Winery for a tour/ tasting at 3:00. Dinner is down the road at Pantuso’s.
Monday we can return to Denver at our leisure.
